Our first project ever was to create a Java Applet presenting the games in the T28 phone on Ericsson Mobile Communications promotion web page. Since then we delivered hundreds of projects ranging from embedded C games and on-device Java midlets, to localized multi platform C++ stand alones, Flash based community portals and transaction intense Java front ends
In addition to our developers and testers/moderators, our senior staff in Sweden and Davao consists of project managers, line managers and architects, all with more than ten years of hands on employment experience in related fields. We cover the whole implementation cycle from analysis and design, through implementation and quality verification, to installation, operations, maintenance, content moderation, etc. Normally we work using either SCRUM or Critical Chain, but our production model allows us to plug in any desired methodology.
A few words on how we work...
To use a bit of IT lingo one can say that we insource a tight interface - often a technical project manager in for example Sweden - to the customer. This dedicated interface handles project steering, requirements, SRS activities, back logs, change requests, contact with the software factory, etc. Large portions of the software design and all of the actual coding and quality verification is done where it is cheapest at the moment, i.e. in Davao. In addition, we most often have one Swedish or European senior developer on site in Davao, acting as local architect and local project coordinator. This enables us to continuously transfer up to date IT knowledge to the Davao office, and offers an unique opportunity for our European staff to try life as a software architect or project manager in the Philippines.
Together with our customer we compile a well defined business case, often in a SRS accompanied by a high level design. This blue print goes in "the factory" for production. A continuous inflow of customer feedback serves as the project configuration for each iteration/milestone/sprint. After successful delivery, parts of the team can be offered for continuous maintenance, training or moderation of the product and thereto related services.
Global function groups - predictable outsourcing
After working with global function groups for over ten years in in Pakistan, Dubai, China, India and Venezuela it is our firm belief that this semi outsourced solution is the most reliable and cost efficient way to produce quality software. In fact it is the only way we ever experienced a 100% predicted and expected result from an outsourced project. The solution is transparent to the customer, and even though we benefit from differences in time zones - so called 24 hour production - we preserve the important and often informal communication that comes from regular face to face meetings with our customer.
We consider the technologies and the project model available as merely tools for engineering successful software solutions. The real challenge comes from knowing and doing the right things at the right time. A continuous and responsible communication with our customer is what drives the development process all the way to a successful deployment.
